Who We Are

Our
Mission & Values

We are passionate about social enterprises, mutuals and charities and believe in their ability to change the world.

Every so often, an organisation will inevitably go through a process of re-invention or re-alignment in order to stay relevant. During the Covid-19 crisis this is more true than ever.
We provide highly experienced, director-level resources who will roll up their sleeves and support you and your organisation through such a period.

Since we are like you, we understand you and speak your language. That way, we can make a real difference. Quickly.

Our values reflect our personality and the way we would like to work with you: unpretentious, honest, respectful, hard-working, focused on impact.

Paul Jansen

Paul is passionate about making a positive difference to society by applying innovative concepts to address social issues. He believes that everyone comes to work to do a good job, and just needs to be supported effectively. He is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in design and execution of transformative change in both for-profit and not-for-profit organisations.

Paul's first acquaintance with the concept of social enterprise was with Ashoka - reportedly the inventors of the term ‘social entrepreneur’ - during his Executive MBA at INSEAD in 2004. He has never looked back.

After a career in Investment Banking, Paul has specialised in interim management and consultancy for social enterprises and charitable organisations, making his senior management skills and insights work for organisations that want to make a positive impact to society.
He has become an authority in the field of 'teal', and its concepts of self-management through his work for Buurtzorg.
In addition, identifying alternative income streams, defining alternative strategic objectives and putting the organisation on the road to achieving those are amongst his core strengths.

Paul has operated as interim CEO and consultant for several charities and social enterprises. He has created close to a dozen spin-outs - or public service mutuals - from the NHS, Local Authorities and Probation. He has generated £millions in revenues and grants. He has transformed and merged organisations, reinvented countless business models, introduced infrastructures and processes to effectively support organisations, and measure performance, progress and social impact, including Social Return On Investment (SROI). He pays particular attention to ensuring that his solutions are embedded in the client organisation and on several occasions has been involved in the recruitment as well as on-going mentoring of his successors.

Paul generally operates at Board level. He is comfortable communicating at all levels and has facilitated workshops and presented to large audiences on several occasions. He is media-trained.

He applies a structured analytical approach to his assignments. Yet thanks to his communication skills and personable style he manages to generate support and buy-in amongst various stakeholders for the plans in hand, taking the organisation along in the process of implementation. He quickly adds value to organisations, is able to inspire teams and to build and mobilise networks. He has a proven track-record of delivering results.

Paul was voted Praxis Interim Manager of the Year 2007 - category General Management. He has an Executive MBA from INSEAD business school (with Distinction) as well as an MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management Science. He has written several articles. A full CV is available on request.
